I've been working in the fashion industry since I started my first handbag and accessories line in 2003. Over the last 12 years I have attended numerous trade shows and sold to wholesale customers across the US, Japan and even Kuwait. My product lines have sold to a wide range of retailers from independent specialty boutiques to well known retailers like Kitson, Anthropologie, South Moon Under, Henri Bendel & Nordstrom. In 2008 I began taking on freelance work as a jewelry designer, one of my first projects was for Badgley Mischka and I've designed collections for many brands since then.
In 2010 I began to take on line-sheet clients after seeing that even more established brands struggled with line-sheet layout. They often didn't have anyone in house to give the work to, and what they had just wasn't up to par. My experiences working with retailers at trade-shows and in showrooms over the years have given me insight into what buyers expected.
In 2011 after years of designing jewelry for other brands, I decided to again work toward building my own brand and in 2014 I launched Sunday Girl Jewelry, and recently launched a second higher end line Amy DiLamarra. In my first business I learned, the hard way, the importance of accurate pricing and understanding margins. I now use this knowledge daily in my jewelry business and write about it when I can.
